About
My name is John and I live in Sunderland, England, having lived in various parts of North-east England and Southern Africa. My prime passion is theatre, both seeing it and doing amateur dramatics, presently with two companies. My other interests include poetry, writing, comedy, cruciverbalism, art, and football. Politically, I believe in libertarian, egalitarian, socialist, envrionmentalist and disestablishmentarianist, and am a member of the Green Party. Religion-wise, I’m a neopagan.
The title of this blog comes from a Manic Street Preachers song of the same name, one of the last written by Richey Edwards before his disappearance. In addition to the words invoking a fabulous gothic image, the songs contains some appropriate lyrics:
Once you roared, now you just grunt lame,
Pace around pathetic pound games.
Prophetic, given that the Manics were a frenetic, vitriolic and energetic band before Richey disappeared – after which, they became, unfortunately, a bit of a sell-out.
